let's see hmmm time flew by and this coming week is the midterms. apparently people in alto uni are already done with their semester. i was planning to see most of korea but now that i see what time i have left i might not be able to accomplish that. ah recently we took the environmental engineering midterms. whoever said that exchange no need study are liars. that rule only applies to america, canada and europe unis. you wont be able to do that at any asian uni. in KU there is no bell curve so at least that is better cuze if there is bell curve then gg liao. for this mod that we took, the avg was 65, the highest was like 96 and the second was like 87 and all 3 of us chem engineers got 50+ hahhahaa like shag only. the way they test is very diff from nus and it really made us appreaciate, somewhat, nus way of exams. here the exams are all closed book so all the equations u never know whether to memorise them or not. the profs will be all like maybe i'll test you maybe i won't which are such assholes plz. our test was basically testing us on derivation which would normally not be tested in chem eng exams in nus cuze like 99% are open book other than CN1111 which i was unlucky enough to get close book cuze the switched the format all of a sudden. yea there are pros and cons everywhere so i guess see what suits you. i prefer the open book and application cuze i dont think in the future my job would require me to derive an equation.....llike what is the point even. i get it that he wants us to understand the concept but he already gave it to us as a question in our homework so whats the point of testing it again? shao han was saying that one of his prof from hkust was like saying how engineers wont need to memorise info and you just need to know where to find it (which is basically like nus engine style luh) then the test is closed book *insert black moon face x100* like totally contradicting. talking about midterms, all my exams have midterms and i have like 4 within 3 days...sighs. plus there's no recess wk here but there's like an unspoken rule where the profs will cancel class during the midterm wk to allow you to study for other exams so at least thts good. ah during the month of may theres gonna be like public hols on a wed and fri so our biomat chem prof was like calling it a "sandwich holiday" and just cancelled the class on thurs hahahaaa yay for me! that means i wont miss that lesson so many times, as in my attendance, cuze im goin japannnnnn. woohoo

ah i want to mention about our nanomaterials prof hahahaa he really like some fanboy of nanomaterials/chemistry profs/scholars/smart ppl. like whenever he mentions some big discovery in the nanomaterials world he will add a picture of the person who did it and then he will mention the entire life story of that person. like which country he is from, where he did his post doc, masters, graduate studies etc. legit damn funny. it's at the same level as fans know stuff about their idols 0.0

shao han and his friends(all from nus on exchange there) from hkust came over to korea for a trip. right now is their sort of break cuze this week there are a few days of hols so the sch juz cancelled the whole wk. apparently bennedict the guy from table tennis engine ifg was there too. a familiar face. the rest i never see before but like wei en and i went to dinner with them and we brought them around anam and the KU campus! it was quite cool as though we were hosting foreign exchange sutdents :) technically we were uh. #kupride #nuspride

the exchange rate is like going really crazy now. cuze tmrw or actually today since its like past midnight is like some impt day to north korea and there might be some missile test? so apparently US sent some battleships(?) over here to counter the possibility of it. so like tensions are high. i honestly dont really know whats happening or know what might happen. everyone in korea is immune to the hostility and treats it like just every other day. this is because the korean war never really ended, like it was only a ceasefire which continued till today. yea so u never know when war might erupt again. when u say 'war' it feels like such a distant topic esp for ppl at my age cuze we never lived through the hard times our predecessors did. i really dont know what might happen tmrw. i hope nothing happens truly, not only for my sake but for the sake of the koreans too, we made friends from kuba and i wont want anything bad to happen to them. my mum and grandma are afraid of like the possibility of smth happening which i cant blame them cuze the news seems to be heading towards that direction no? but honestly everything here currently feels the same as usual. i hope for the best and fear for the worst cuze if donald trump could even become president when everyone was like wont lah siao la wont happen one la and the end result was him being president, who know what could happen in the next few days. there will always be a crazy, stupid person who makes a bad decision and cause trouble for everyone else. i hope no one makes bad choices in the near future. if smth bad really does happen i honestly dont know what i would be able to do well till the next post of exchange life from me, if there isnt....u know what happened.
