Exchange life 4
Really time flies very quickly when u r on exchange. Some tips. If u really wanna play u might consider not coming to korea? Cuze the sch work rly does feel as much as nus i feel...maybe less but still there are weekly homework for some classes and quizzes seem to be coming. Furthermore there isnt any study breaks in korea, like there are no recess wk like nus or spring break like european countries. So ur travel is rly limited to either before or after ur sch term or on weekends if u manage to get a short work wk. For me i didnt go earlier to travel cuze it wuld be too cold and i cant stay in korea till to late cuze IA starts in july. Mmm also ask your family to haf a trip halfway thru ur exchange to come visit u and help u stock up on supplies or u just bring enough from home. Food like maggie. Esp for me who cant take spicy food. Korean maggie isnt much of an option for me. The spicy ones i cant eat and the nonspicy ones arent tht great. If u need milo and drink quite often bring like 2kg worth. Cuze if u drink maybe 3 times a wk or more, 1kg might only last u slightly more than 1 mth. Im like rationing my milo. I also regret not bringing more flavour packs and like cha ye dan season packets cuze i thought our goshiwon didnt allow us to cook. About goshiwon, if u value ur personal space then goshiwon is okay since it's 1 person per room. If u want a cheaper option, the sch dorms seem okay but u will have to share , not sure if there are single rooms. Also apparently i heard there are much cheaper goshiwons around. Some even as low as 18k won per mth but im not sure of its standard uh. Rachel livingtel i think is considered on the high range already. It is clean and the space is sufficient but the manager can be quite strict. The free rice isnt that great cuze its like always mushy due to too much water being added. The bread is also like not as soft as what we have in sg but there's a toaster so...toast awayyy. But what can u complain about from free food. Also money. From what i observe if the rates are falling, changing in sg ur krw is better cuze they dont change their rates as quickly as the forex changes whereas in myeongdong they rly do follow the forex rates closely. Like it can change everyday. There was a period where the rates kept falling and in korea it was like less than 810 but in sg the rate was still above 810. Hmmm dont worry abt going to a country without knowing anyone as u'll soon make new friends, everyone is very friendly. Also plan ur time wisely as the weeks rly go by very fast. Also cuze kuba plans trips on saturday u might not be able to travel if u wanna attend these events. For lessons which take up 2 periods, the prof normally ends the period earlier than the allocated timing because there is no break in between the 2 slots, so its juz like the normal lessons. 1h15min.
